Marathon Time!

K, so new start, new beginning....
I'm such a music nerd with a collection most of my circle would never ever hear. It has such an influence on my entire being. This song by Snapcase explains how I'm feeling right now:

incarnation, bring it to life
bring it to lifeembody the soul
the soul, the spirit, the essence of life
life now absent in our consciousness
in this world, death just exists
I know that we can live today
but tomorrow's more important
the future looksdespondent
don't mean it's hopeless
carpe diem is great, with focus in duration
it's time to live again, incarnation
associate the masses
in a world that's worth existence
endure the pain, universalize the message
we've got to kill the fear that halts us in relations
it's time to live again, incarnation
it's time to livein a world worth living
a sense of hope,a sense of feeling
recognise death, life is celebration
start today, incarnation

Anywho....starting to run again. It hurts. I really haven't done much of ANYTHING, so it's a bit of a struggle. I need new shoes, as I'm not making it through all the long runs. My IT band is giving me lot's of trouble.

The first run was June 16. Gabby came along, and we attempted the 12 miles, but probably did closer to 8, with 6 of actual running.

Then I did a run on Thurday and Friday. I ran about 3 miles each day, at an easy pace. I bought a Garmin GPS watch to help track my progress and not just get out there and 'run', but I lost the charging cradle. I'll get a new one this week.

This past Saturday, June 23, I attempted the 13 mile run. We start at Ocean/Redondo, and I did the 6 mile loop to the end of the jetty and back. My IT band started to act up, which causes a knee pain. The week before it started on the bridge (hill) to the Queen Mary. This time it started on the jetty. I took off back by myself, did a little stretching, and was able to run all the way back with just a little pain. I need to do my stretches. Perhaps Yoga will help.

So....this week, more stretching, new shoes, and I'll get another knee band that helps keep the IT band from causing knee pains. Then it's just the usual pain of running. Gotta build those legs up again and get rid of the extra layer I've developed.

Here goes everything....again!
